If you love the taste of grilled food but don’t like open flames you need the built-in safety features of PowerChef electric grills.

    Easy Automatic Grilling

With a few easy steps, the automatic controls on some models guide you through every step, eliminating guesswork, and producing perfect cooking results every time. Program the type of food, thickness and the desired doneness; the control chimes when it’s time to flip and time to serve. In case of no response, it automatically reduces heat to low. Select manual mode to cook your way or create a custom program to simplify a favorite meal (custom program is only available on select models).

Propane grills are frequently involved in fires with serious consequences:
    • 8,000 fires between 2003 – 2006,
    • cause 10 deaths per year on average,
    • sent 18,600 to emergency rooms in 2007 alone,
    • caused $80 million in property damage from 2003 – 2006.
    PowerChef frees you from worry:
    • safe, controllable electric power,
    • no volatile combustible gases,
    • no open flame,
    • no transporting propane tanks,
    • no leaky gas lines or fittings,
    • no finicky lighters,
    • no flammable lighter fluid,
    • no dangerous flare-ups.

"Designed from the ground up to be the safe, clean and green grilling alternative."

    Safety

If you are wary about explosive gases and the live flames of conventional grills, you will appreciate the safe electric alternative. Dimplex designed PowerChef grills to use safe, controllable electric power, with no open flame, flame up, combustion or volatile fuels. PowerChef can safely be used in areas that other grills cannot, including apartment and condo balconies.

    Power-off

The Power-off safety feature activates if the unit has been accidentally left on after cooking. At the end of the programmed cycle the grilling surface reduces power to cool, and after four hours, the control panel shuts off.

    No Hassle

With PowerChef, you do not have to worry about the risk of storing or transporting propane tanks, or leaky gas lines or fittings. And, you won't have to deal with troublesome starters or flammable lighter fluid. With a PowerChef grill, you just plug it in and start grilling.

    Balcony usage

International Fire Code regulations prohibit the use of open flame grills on most balconies.
The International Fire Code section 308.3.1 specifically states:
“Charcoal burners and other open-flame cooking devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction.
Exceptions include one- and two-family dwellings and balconies or decks that are protected by an automatic sprinkler system.”

The PowerChef line of grills are tested and approved to UL 1026 and C22.2 Standard 64, which means that they can be used on virtually all balconies. Their safe, electric operation makes PowerChef grills the ideal choice for use on balconies or other confined spaces.

Many jurisdictions also have strict regulations concerning the storage and transportation of propane tanks.
